Meet the amazing child author & soccer star – Annabel Lucy Yue!
You’re never too young to write & publish your own book or books…
Just ask 11-year old Annabel Yue who studies in Hong Kong. Although school, activities & sports keep her busy, she still finds time to pursue her passion for writing & recently published her fourth book (yes, you read it right)!
“I want to share ideas with people outside my house.”
Annabel was inspired to write her first book at the age of 6 when she saw an ant crawling gingerly up a wall.
“I like the process of getting an idea, writing it down, turning it into a story & sharing ideas with people outside my house,” says Annabel.
She donated the proceeds from her first three books, (over $5,500 USD) to “NGO Teach For China,” an organization that trains educators who teach children in rural mainland China.
“Soccer is another passion of mine.”
In addition to writing, Annabel is an avid soccer player. She is a member of the Hong Kong junior football team and aspires to play professionally in the future. She plays on the boy’s team and noticed that the boys would never pass the ball to her. This inspired her to write a story to encourage girls to take up the sport and it eventually became her fourth book entitled “Selina the Football Girl.”
“I wrote this story to tell other girls who might have the same problem that they are not alone and should keep playing football,” says Annabel.
She donated the proceeds to “Inspiring HK Sports Foundation,” an organization which provides sports activities to underprivileged children in Hong Kong.
Keep scoring Annabel. We love how you’ve got ball rolling!
