Brief Description:
?Settlers of Catan is a strategy game that combines resource management and smart trading. The luck of the dice throw drives the resources acquired.
?The goal of the game is to collect resources and build settlements and cities, which help gain victory points.
?Beware of the “robber” that can randomly show up steal your resources!
?The game ends when someone has acquired 10 victory points.
My Favorite Part:
?If you lack resources, you can bargain, negotiate, and trade with other players to try to get what you need. The banter can be hilarious.
?It’s really helpful if you can keep track of not only your own resources but also what everyone else is holding.
What I Learnt:
?Planning several steps ahead. Thinking carefully about where to place settlements, roads, and cities, and how your competitors are likely to react, improves your chances to win.
?Dice probabilities – The numbers 5 through 9 come up more frequently than numbers like 2 or 12. Position your settlements and cities to take advantage of dice throws that come up more frequently.
I Recommend This Because:
It’s a really fun game once you get to understand the rules. After playing once, you just want to keep on playing. Also, there are some fun extensions to the base game.
