The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower in April has been a treat for the sky watchers this year, when the clear, dark skies set up a glorious backdrop for viewing the spectacular meteor shower.
These ‘showers’ are the particles shed from Comet Thatcher’s tail as it orbits around the Sun & intersects with the orbit of the Earth.
Although the sighting peaked this week, this phenomenon will continue till April 25th, 2020.
☄️METEOROIDS are small chunks of rock broken off from a comet traveling through space.
☄️METEORS are the bright streak of light created by the Meteoroids when they enter Earth’s atmosphere, creating a ‘shooting star’ effect.
☄️METEORITES are solid pieces of debris when the Meteoroids survive & hit the Earth’s surface.
☄️ A METEOR SHOWER is when many meteors seem to come from one point in the night sky.
☄️LYRIDS are the oldest known meteor showers dating back 2,700 years.
Together, let’s make a wish upon these shooting stars to Heal The World.
