That’s right! BASEBALL, the most popular spectator sport in Taiwan (mainly due to Japanese and American influence) just started its game season. Although spectators have been banned from attending games due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the league has organized robotic mannequins and cardboard cut-outs of fans dressed in home team colours to be placed throughout the seats.
Whilst most nations have cancelled their sporting events, Taiwan has decided to go against the trend, & allow games to be played with live broadcasts for the enthusiastic fans. Although it seems quite bizarre, the Baseball league wanted to keep the sporting spirit alive with keeping the social distancing requirements in mind.
During a recent match between the Rakuten Nine & the Chinatrust Brothers, the only people allowed inside the Taiwan Taoyuan Baseball Stadium were staff and cheerleaders, who posed with the cardboard figures and drum-playing robots!
